Why was SoundPhantasy* made?

SoundPhantasy* was made by Multimedia Computing student Lewis Cave as part of his final year Technology Project at Demontfort University. The project's aim was to develop an interactive online videogame for mass consumption over the internet.

Ways to play.

The SoundPhantasy* game is for a single player, who must battle against the computer, as well as his or her own reflexes. However, it can also be played with two people at the same time, with each person pressing a single button. Try it with a friend, and see what sort of scores you can achieve through co-operation!

Outcomes.

SoundPhantasy* has been designed to be an audio-visual experience. This simply means that the audio elements of the game and the visual elements are synchronised, and in turn, synchronise how the game plays. For example, the beat of the music will determine the button presses in the game, which in turn activate a visual feedback on screen for the player to see. It is the visual response to the sound elements in the game that make SoundPhantasy* a unique and involving experience.

Website.

The SoundPhantasy* website has been designed to Strict XHTML 1.0 standard, and is a completely standards compliant website. The pages were developed using CSS to determine layout, thus separating content from style, meaning that the pages are easily updated, quick to load and viewable in a wide range of browsers and media devices. You can test the validity of the website by clicking the XHTML and CSS links at the bottom of this page.
