Playing tips.

Are you having trouble progressing through to the latter stages? Can't find your rhythm? The tips on this page are designed to help you master the techniques required to reach the highest scores.

Basic hints.

SoundPhantasy* is a simple music rhythm game. To succeed, you need quick reflexes and a good sense of timing. Below is a list of some useful basic tips for beginners:

• Hover your fingers over the Z and X keys on your keyboard: these are the two main buttons you need to play the game
• When the moving line moves over the circle in the top-middle of the play area, quickly press the key down
• The pattern of key-presses never changes: memorise the pattern and concentrate on the circle
• Listen to the beat of the music to help your timing and play 'to the music', if this helps

Advanced hints.

These tips are for the advancing player and some of the techniques detailed here are essential for beating the harder levels.

• Hold down the keys over the entirety of the hit point instead of tapping the key. You will get far higher points every time
• The X key holds higher point values than the Z key. Remember this on the harder levels and take more risks to win the X key-presses
• When SP remarks "NOW!" this is the time to hit SPACE BAR. You can also hold down the SPACE BAR to get more points than a tap technique will

Cheats.

Hidden within SoundPhantasy* are a few cheats. Here is a list of some of the sneaky techniques you can use: the rest you will have to find yourself...

• Hit SPACE BAR on the tenth beat of Layer Two. You will activate a secret bonus point
• Hit SPACE BAR at the very start of Layer Three. You will activate a secret bonus point
• On Layer Three, the X key is worth 50 points instead of the usual 20
